Ecumenical Service

The Ecumenical Service is a special moment where our community comes together to open the Summer Celebration in faith and fellowship. It brings pastors, church leaders, and neighbors from across Indiana into one space to pray, worship, and set the tone for the weekend ahead.

Through uplifting music, powerful messages, and heartfelt praise, this service centers us in hope, unity and gratitude. Each year, we are blessed by the community-wide ecumenical choir, guest pastors, and local congregations who reflect the deep spiritual roots and shared faith that continue to guide our city.

This year, we are pleased to have the Honorable Reverend Dr. Raphael Warnock lead the Ecumenical Service.

Reverend Dr. Raphael Warnock

The Honorable Reverend Dr. Raphael Warnock serves as Senior Pastor of Ebenezer Baptist Church, the spiritual home of Martin Luther King Jr.  As the church’s fifth senior pastor, his leadership has sustained Ebenezer’s role as “America’s Freedom Church,” renowned for spiritual vitality and an enduring commitment to social activism.
 
An accomplished author, Dr. Warnock’s first book, “The Divided Mind of the Black Church,” explores the intersection of theology, piety, and public witness in the Black church tradition. Named a Most Anticipated Book of 2026 by The New York Times, Dr. Warnock’s upcoming book, “The Crooked Places Made Straight,”  examines six crises at the center of American life: voting rights and voter suppression, gun violence, mass incarceration, persistent poverty, dark money in politics, and the climate emergency.
 
Dr. Warnock’s influence has been recognized by organizations such as the Rainbow PUSH Coalition and the National Action Network, and publications including The Root and The Washington Post have repeatedly named him among the most impactful African American leaders. His insights on faith, justice, and public life have appeared on major platforms, including CNN and CBS Evening News.
He is a member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., a lifetime member of the NAACP, and the former chairman of the New Georgia Project’s board of directors.
