Youth Leadership Summit

Youth Leadership Summit (YLS) is for middle and high school student leaders who want to see and affect change in their community. YLS is a Youth Conference geared towards giving youth a platform to hear and learn from professionals regarding academics, decision making, and advocacy. YLS is a conference where youth are engaged with plenary sessions and interactive workshops with knowledge that is transferable across home, school, and community. In addition to networking with youth across the state, youth also become the teacher. Youth attending YLS work hard and play hard. Saturday activities close out the day with the Slam Dunk Contest, Amp Harris and Reggie Wayne Celebrity Basketball Games and a YLS 90's Party (invite only).

This 3-day leadership summit allows future innovators, engineers, doctors, and investigators to start building their path to success and get real, hands-on STEM experience at the Youth Leadership Summit. Over three impactful days, middle and high school students explore career opportunities and gain increased confidence and leadership skills among like-minded and aspirational students from around the state. IBE is committed to be a catalyst in promoting positive, relevant content to our youth for academic and social success.

Quotes from attendees

During my weekend at the IBE Youth Leadership Summit, I took away many important things. I enjoyed the workshops that took place because they offered very valuable information. I also like the Purdue workshop because they told us everything we needed to know about college and about our future. They even went as far as giving us their cards so we could stay in touch with them. I also enjoyed the "Your Life Matters" PSAs that we did. It let us be creative while still putting out a great message. It is also really kind to give out laptops because some of the youth are going to college and can't afford them. Overall, I believe the IBE Youth Leadership Summit offers many great things that the youth can take away and I enjoyed my time.
